CATALOG TRANSFERS

Closing doesn’t move the money. The MLC does.

Until the transfer is processed at the MLC, the prior administrator keeps collecting, and any registration the transfer misses is leakage from day one. We list every registration the seller’s share sits on, with every co-publisher and administrator, so the transfer covers the whole catalog.

WHAT WE FIND

The whole catalog, before the letter of direction

Every registration the share sits on

Each work the seller collects on at the MLC, with the share and the song code: the list the transfer has to name.

Every co-publisher and administrator

Who else is on each registration, and who administers it, so no work is assumed to move that someone else controls.

What the seller never registered

Works with earning recordings and no registration, and unmatched recordings of registered works: the upside the transfer doesn’t carry until it’s filed.

AT CLOSE

The list the MLC needs

Song codes and shares, registration by registration, for the letter of direction and the MLC’s transfer process. Checked against what the MLC actually pays on, not the seller’s schedule.

AFTER CLOSE

Watch it land

The month after the transfer, every registration checked again: which ones now pay you, which still pay the prior administrator, and the ticket for each one that didn’t move.

Questions

Can you run it before the LOI?

Yes. It runs on the MLC’s public data; the seller isn’t contacted.

Does it cover works another publisher administers?

We show them and who administers them. Only the administrator can file on them, so the list says who that is.

Who files the transfer?

You, through your MLC account. We prepare the list and follow up until each registration pays the new owner.

Every registration.
Or the old administrator keeps collecting.
